Dive Spear and Sport 1770 is ecotourism certified dive and snorkel tourism operator offering world class experiences to the Southern Great Barrier Reef. We are looking for a local Bookkeeper & Admin Rockstar 15-20 hours a week to keep our dive shop afloat (literally and figuratively). We’re a team of ocean lovers, gear heads, and salt-water addicts, but we need someone to be the organised “anchor” to our bubbly crew.
The Gig
This isn’t your average “beige office” job. You’ll be managing the books for a fast-paced tourism business where the dress code is “island casual” and the schedule is dictated by how good the conditions of the week are.
- 15–20 hours per week with room for increasing with time. (Flexible scheduling—we get that the surf might be up, or family might need tending to).
- Working from our centre in Agnes, with some “work from home” flexibility once you’ve found your sea legs.
- Part-Time or Casual available with pay based on experience + ocean based incentives
What You’ll Be Doing (The Dry Stuff)

- Xero accounting system: Managing AP/AR, bank recs, and making sure our accounts are as clear as a calm day at the reef.
- Payroll: Ensuring our instructors and skippers get their “beer money” on time!
- Admin Magic: Handling renewals, insurance paperwork, and the occasional curve ball just to keep you busy.
- Communication sensation: Being the glue that keeps communication with suppliers, agents and big customers open – to ensure they are hearing from us, when we’re 10m down with a reg in our mouths!
- Reporting: Giving us the “low tide” and “high tide” on our monthly finances.
Is this your role?
We aren’t looking for a corporate robot. We want a human who:
- Do you speaks “Accountant”: You know your way around a Balance Sheet and P&L.
- Embraces the Chaos: Tourism is unpredictable. You’re cool as a sea cucumber when things get busy.
- Has an Eye for Detail: You spot a missing receipt like a dive instructor spots a mantis shrimp.
- Loves the Ocean: You don’t have to be a dive pro, but if you think “Nitrox” is a brand of laundry detergent, we might be teaching you a thing or two. But hey, we’re here for it!
